Batch Photo Renamer
Deliverables usually have to be named a particular way — SMITH_001.jpg through
SMITH_480.jpg, or dated by shoot. VARNAMORE builds the name from parts you choose,
while it resizes.
Build the name from parts
- Prefix — any text, e.g.
SMITH_ - Body — the original file name, the capture date from EXIF, or nothing
- Sequence — your own start number and digit count (
001…999) - Suffix — any text
The order you set in the file list is the order the numbers follow, so you control the sequence by dragging rather than by renaming beforehand.
Capture date, not file date
Dates come from the EXIF capture time — the moment the shutter fired — not the file system timestamp, which changes whenever a file is copied. Several date formats are available.
Names that are safe on both platforms
Characters Windows forbids are removed, reserved device names are avoided, and trailing dots and spaces are trimmed. A name that would end up empty falls back to the original.
Nothing is overwritten
If two source files would produce the same output name, the second gets _01,
the third _02. Nothing is silently replaced, and the output can never be written
over one of your originals.
Verified afterwards
Delivery Check confirms the names actually written match the rule you set, and reports any duplicate output names. More about Delivery Check →
